Romanian army (looks like a GI with them, too).

The rest are from Iraq. Iraq is by far the largest source for pics.
Thanks to Defenselink.mil, for posting a lot of high quality pics that are in the public domain (no copyright issues).

Does any one use a sling to shoot off hand???? If not, why not?
You don't want to tie yourself up in something that you might have to get out of in a hurry.

Hi Power on a square range is a lot different than on a two way range.

Speed, mobility.

but at least they might keep a few heads down. Somehow I doubt good target shooting technique is very applicable when you have to deal with another guy shooting back.
The Iraqi Army seemed to be a little more controlled with firing but the Iraqi Police was just spray, spray, spray. No matter what you taught them, it went out the window when shots were fired. And it truly is a whole different story when shots are also fired in your direction. Goofing around with a sling is a sure way to get hurt when seconds count.
Thank you Templer and raymand for answering my question. I was in the
USMC from 1956-62. We only had M1s and BARs.

One reason I did this thread rather than just post the pics in the appropriate "sub" pic thread by country is that I'm doing this at work between phone calls, crises, etc.
I wouldn't have had time to post each individual pic to the appropriate thread.
Either that or it would have taken days for each set of pics to be posted.
If someone wants to copy and repost these to the appropriate thread by country, be my guest.

What would an AK pic thread be without pics of the Man himself?

I don't know what kind of rifle this is.
It apparently takes 7.62x39 AK mags.
(It's not airsoft because you can see the empty case in the air)

Zack:
The photo of the Iraqi lady, thanks for that. We here know that everything with any kind of power is a two edged sword and one of the edges of the AK gets a lot of bad press. That photo shows the spirit of MY AK and I hope that if I'm ever in the sh*t like her I will remember her standing straight behind those sandbags.
