Want info on AK74 I just got

*Did a trade and do not know much about it
*The aftermarket handguard is loose and missing one screw at the bottom
*Not sure what country it is from
*Would like to change handguard unless I can figure out how to tighten properly.
*Would like a Zhukov handguard but not sure which one will work. I would prefer the longest one if it will fit
*It has a recoil buffer and if removed, it will not work, is it defective?
*Was told the foldable stock cannot be charged...

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated

I really like it and would like to learn more

It's not a Wafen Werx when they were using NDS receivers?
The rivits look okay, but it's got some odd gaps where there maybe shouldn't be.
The tale about the buffer makes one wonder for sure.
It's not that the folder can't be changed, just not easily. You want rid of it, and other's pay good money to have one. :) Go figure.
On that vein, there's some spendy $#!+ on that one. It just doesn't fit together very well.
Hence. The hack it up snd begin anew opinion.
Be nice to see it in person and experience the function. Or lack there of.

Nothing wrong w/that Aimpoint, is there?
No side mount. So you can't run a regular mount. That's why it has that replace the rear sight leaf mini rail. Personally, I would trade that for having my iron sights back, and see if it's a better shooter like that.
Then you can put the red dot out on the gas tube.
The dust cover fit is probably just not getting the front into the groove in the RSB correctly.
Common for new to AK folks, and more experienced ones in a hurry and anal/cranial insertion disorder. Don't ask me how I know.
Again, personally, I'd toss the recoil buffer, and install a fresh recoil spring. It might be causing cycling issues and making it difficult to put the top cover on correctly.

On second thought, all these issues are insurmountable, and cannot be corrected.
I'll give you $100 for the salvage, and place it my hermedically sealed room where I keep all these dangers to Society. You know, for the children.
