Well it looks like a KSI Norinco MAK 90 in good shape. That is the only bit of info I can give other than it looks very nice! More knowledgeable folks will be along soon! Thanks for posting!
Possibly a slant cut receiver by the Norinco logo being marked on the bottom of the receiver in front of the magwell.
King Sports Imports. made in 1993 as a 'sporter' for export to the U.S. by Norinco which was a Gov owned arms company.
Dull stainless bolt & carrier. Chrome barrel. 1.5mm receiver, later version blued steel, neutered front end..but still built to last forever! If it still has the original chicom double hook FCG, they are far smoother than most, no need to upgrade there imho.

Agreed with the above regarding 99% chance its a slant cut (rear of receiver under the trunnion) so if wanting to convert back to original configuration (chu wood stock set) its going to be a real challenge...

The only entity making slant cut wood stocks for these is Ironwood, but they are in birch wood w/ orange tinting but have similar cut, angle, etc as originals, its close but not exact. Butt-plate on the IWD stock is ribbed or rubber, which is way wrong for both if wanting originality, but anyway...
Its a great rifle, becoming harder to find and certainly climbed in value past few years. It'd be even better if brought back to a more conventional configuration of wood, green canvas sling ( amazon), matched with chinese flat back mags, green canvas chest rig, etc.

It isn't really a "challenge". A 56S stock fits just fine, there's just an open gap where the receiver cut is.

Welcome to the group!

That appears to be a Choate stock set which was put on by the importer after getting the rifle in an attempt to be different. Back in the early 1990s (the one in the photos is one of the few date marked as 1993) importers were trying to figure out how to sell the AK variants. Too soon after Nam kept people from wanting one of those "commie rifles". Today their value has skyrocketed due to the import bans.

Whether it has a slant cut on the receiver or standard should really not make much of a difference as it would still be a really nice shooter. Chinese AK variants had arguably the best trigger feel of any factory produced AK variant.

I guess I'll repeat what I wrote:

"if wanting to convert back to original configuration (chu wood stock set) its going to be a real challenge..."

which implies bringing the receiver back to "square", ya know - fitting & welding a correct piece back in, blending, refinishing to match the correct bluing so as to be undetectable - so one could reinstall the correct original chinese chu wood stock set. That pesky original configuration, as they were cut to further comply with the AWB work-around of a 'tarded thumbhole stock.
That's going to be challenge to many owners in either skill or cost. Real Chu-wood stock sets alone are close to $500-700 if you can find one!
That "gap" looks like ass, BTW. Never said a standard stamped rec stock wouldn't "fit", but if that's the acceptable 'look', Op could just hammer a chunk of 2x4 into the rear and call it a day!

Good news, bad news...

Good: Square back receiver (y), Mak 90's are a proven forever riffle that will bring many generations of shooters joy, butter smooth trigger, much heavier receiver and barrel than many AKM's.

Bad: Cost of Chicom stock set, and you need the entire set. Will be $500 all day for a decent one unfortunately.
Very nice gun no matter what route you go you will enjoy shooting . My 90 has a slant receiver so I will leave it as is ,it’s a great 100 yard rifle very accurate. I have decided to buy another Norinco with the correct furniture .

Stainless? Did Ironwood reopen after the owner passed away?

(y) I agree @MAKninety , no sense in Gender Changing a real piece of Chinese History. However I can see the logic in it, the prices of Pre-Ban Chinese AK's have skyrocketed beyond belief. Changing the furniture is a cheaper alternative than buying a Pre-Ban. I have one that I use for hunting, great rifle with the five round mags.
