Mak 90 furniture color match

I recently acquired another Mak with original furniture on it. I tacticooled my first with M4 adapter and black furniture, but I want this one all wood. I purchased a birch unfinished stock from ironwood designs. After googling with mixed results I’ll ask the experts. What is the best color match for matching the original handguards. They are in perfect shape and I would like to keep them. I’ve read amber shellac, oak stain, yellow varnish etc. I’d like to not screw it up. Anybody done this with good results?

I have had good result using Minwax Antique Maple #603.

This gives it that yellowish gold that many MAK-90s have. Not sure what to do if you have the wood that is finished more toward the orange side.

Without pictures of what you have it is impossible to offer any advice.
Apologies here we go....I want to keep the front set, and match an unfinished butt stock to them. Planning on ironwood designs in birch. Grip will be composite.

Amber Shellac will get you pretty close.
But it depends on how the Birch shows through etc.
Might need a touch of Brown as the furniture in the picture looks like it has a bit of that and a bit darker than Amber Shellac perhaps.
Transtint is an additive color but there are others to add to the Shellac.

Testing on a similar wood piece first is the way to get the color right.
Well got it finished. Turned out pretty good I think. Went with the Amber Shelac

Looks like a very good match! Nice work.
Turned out well.
If you want a little tougher overcoat without interfering with the color a coat of TruOil is a good bit tougher than the Shellac.
