Yes

Q: Why is there a gap between the rear of my rifle and the buttstock?
That's the way it's supposed to be

Q: What's wrong with my 'bolt hold open'?
Nothing, AKs don't have one. Exceptions being some Saiga rifles, and Yugoslavian magazines (which have a bolt catch built into the mag)

Q: Can I install a 'bolt hold open'?
Yes, it will require some work. Typically, they will all be manually activated. Choices are typically the Saiga-type and the modified safety type.
