AK bolt Mushrooming? Should I File it by hand?

Recently bought a C39V2, the rifle itself is in good condition in my opinion, few problems that annoy the fuck outta me though. When I run Metal magazines in the C39V2, seems to turn into a bolt action rifle (jams every shot, failure to extract spent casing) causing the next round to not chamber, or the spent casing is stuck in chamber and I have to rack it to get it out. On the other hand, when I run tapco or any plastic magazines through it , it runs flawlessly. Now onto the bolt, mushrooming on one side.. I’ll post photos. Any ideas would be great but to get rid of the sharp edges from the mushrooming, might just file it by hand. Also, thought about replacing all the bolt internals, because I do not have head space gauges to completely change the whole bolt.

Lol, I was gonna say clip your fingernails, but didn’t want to be a dick. Thanks Vlado...

As far as your bolt goes, it’s because it’s a century rifle, my first AK was a RAS and it did the same thing. As the parts wear together it should stop progressing, but I would check it after each range use. I have even seen it on Romy bolts, but not to such degree.

My advise would be to NOT file on your bolt unless you have guages and a lot of experience. Just leave it as is.

As far as steel mags go, the century guns were made primarily for Magpul mags, but any polymer should work. The mag well is likely a little too large for steel mags to run smoothly.

Clip them nails, do nothing to your rifle, get a set of guages to keep an eye on headspace since it’s an American made century and buy a comblock AK when you’re ready to upgrade.

Do you like hand grenades?

It's a C39v2... the ONLY thing you should do is post it on armslist and buy something that isn't a hand grenade

Thanks bro , and yes I wasn’t talking filing the whole bolt , just that sharp edge where the mushrooming is, just to smooth it out
I don't see any harm with knocking that high spot off of the bolt. Just don't file on any of the contact surfaces. Definitely monitor for any more deformation on all of the lugs. Do get a N0-G0 gauge and check headspace after every use. Do keep an eye on that right receiver rail as they tend to chip at the top edge. There is some bad info out there where people were filing that rail down at an angle...Do Not do that. People do love to say that an AK can run dry...lube that C39V2 up!

I am not sure about your issue with metal magazines. The problem could be with the magazines. Just stick with what works. You may look into getting a new extractor. There are good videos on You-Tube on how to disassemble the bolt.

There is info out there on replacement bolts and carriers. They often say get a Polish bolt or carrier. Truth is...any AK bolt or carrier will work...as long as they headspaces correctly. This is an expensive proposition as bolts are not cheap and you may need to buy a few before you find one that headspaces correctly.

Fingernails...Yes trim that up cave-man...or get some finger nail polish.

The carrier shouldn't impact the headspace at all.
My 2 cents, I would file the sharp high spots off the bolt.

And my question is about the chamber, which in the pictures does not look smooth. If it is just the pictures, obviously not a problem but if the chamber isn't smooth that could be part of the reason the rounds fail to extract.
